Insurance Policy Administration Firm in the South East US has a need for an Actuarial Developer. This role is responsible for assisting in the development and maintenance of a life insurance illustration system by providing the highest technical assistance, data integrity, analytical support and project management support. This position spends roughly 80 percent of time programming, the remaining time spent performing actuarial services.
The duties of the positions will include: participating in software design and analysis of user needs to determine technical requirements, developing and maintaining systems or applications involving a wide variety of programming and languages, modifying, repairing, or expanding existing programs to correct errors, increase efficiency, upgrade interfaces, or improve performance, performing internal testing and analysis on software and systems to identify problems, developing and adhering to standards for coding, documentation, object reuse, etc., setting and meeting target dates, contributing to training manuals or instructions for end users, evaluating the effectiveness of implemented software, researching and remaining informed of new technology and development tools, maintaining a client service approach and maintaining and promoting company values. Candidates should have the following skills: detailed experience in an alternative programming language such as APL, C/C++, etc., a solid understanding of the internal workings of life insurance products, progress with the actuarial exams, a strong understanding of calculation methodologies and formulas associated with life insurance values calculations, two or more years experience in working with the actuarial aspects of life insurance as it pertains to the COLI industry and experience with software development in java is a plus. Beneficial Skills for the role include: life insurance or financial industry experience, experience with COLI illustration systems, experience with java performance profiling, working knowledge of Hibernate and knowledge of XML.
